Description

This horse brings a new meaning to hard worker, versatility, good looking, and gentle. Conservatively he has drug over 7k calves and pushed 100k at the salebarn. Gentle enough for my 2yo daughters & young niece to show in 4H! He weighs 1400lbs and is gentle and sturdy. He is aware of his surroundings to keep his rider safe. He works great in any weather and is the most trustworthy horse I have ever owned.

From the very start, as a weanling, from Dan & Tara Hooper, Jefe has had a natural talent and ability you don't see in just any horse. A herd boss who promotes a great mentality in the rest of your string, he loads great, stands for farrier, and those are the least of his talents. Jefe became my main mount and was dragging calves to the fire by the time he was 4. He's been dragging calves ever since at every branding we can get to. I made sure to take my time covering a good foundation by starting in a bosal, working up to a 2 rein, and then to a bit. He's done ranch work at our place, day work around the county, and worked at Crawford Livestock Market more times than can be counted. And he's done it in any extreme weather that NW Nebraska could dish out. He's more than just a hard worker he's the mount I trust with a younger or inexperienced rider. Jefe has been shown in both halter and riding classes by my young niece. My older daughter, now 2.5 years old, claims him to ride both under saddle and bareback around the yard and corrals. This horse has helped me become the rider I am and he sets up inexperienced riders to learn and better themselves. I'm an inexperienced team roper and Jefe has done amazing underneath me as I've been learning due his natural athleticism and sound mind. Jefe knows how to stay aware of his surroundings, and his rider, to keep them safe. Jefe measures up to 14.3-15 hands and tips the scale at a true 1,400 pounds.
